Benjamin J. Curtis

Benjamin J. Curtis is the 30th registrar to serve as Rockingham County Register of Deeds and was sworn in on December 5, 2016.

Mr. Curtis graduated from Morehead Senior High in Eden, NC, in 1993. He went on to attend the University of Western Carolina, where he obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1997. After completing his college education, Mr. Curtis worked full time during the day while attending Basic Law Enforcement Training at Rockingham Community College each night. Mr. Curtis completed the Basic Law Enforcement Training in December of 1998 and was hired by the Reidsville Police Department on March 22, 1999. 

While employed with the City of Reidsville, Mr. Curtis served as a patrol officer and as a member of the street level drug enforcement team and was hired by the Eden Police Department on February 21, 2005. While a member of the Eden Police Department, Mr. Curtis served on patrol from February 21, 2005 until November 6, 2007. On November 7, 2007, Mr. Curtis was moved to the Investigations unit where he served as an arson investigator, crime scene processor, and senior detective. After seeking public office for the first time, he successfully won the 2016 election. Mr. Curtis inherited a veteran team and all work to maintain the high level of professional service that citizens of Rockingham County have become accustomed to when utilizing the office. 

Mr. Curtis currently remains a reserve officer with the City of Eden Police Department and attends the Church of the Epiphany located in Eden with his wife, Whitney, and two children.
