3 traffic collisions in this area during construction!

Please share Safety Message from Rockingham County Emergency Services Director Rodney Cates!
Thanks!  PIO Mable Scott

Rockingham County Emergency Services Director Rodney Cates urges motorists to drive safely by slowing down on U.S. 158, west of Reidsville, in the Bethany Charter School area.  Cates said:  "There have been three traffic collisions in this area during the time of the construction ... two involved injuries and one was property damage only.  No construction workers have been injured."

The construction zone has water lines being installed on the shoulders of the roadway on U.S. 158, west of Reidsville.  Due to the high volume of traffic on U.S. 158, there have been several collisions in the construction area and many more near collisions.

Rockingham County Emergency Services has placed message boards in the area in an effort to further warn citizens of the construction workers and equipment in and near the roadway.

Emergency Services urges motorists to slow down in these areas and remain highly vigilant for workers, equipment and slower moving traffic.  Cates emphasized, "our vigilance could save the life of someone's loved one."

This construction project began around May 01, 2018, and should be fully completed by the end of Oct.  Construction will be finished before the end of Oct. and pressurizing and testing the lines will be completed by the end of October.
