DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  Under general supervision performs skilled work in rescuing accident victims and performing advanced emergency care including the administration of life sustaining treatment.  Work involves serving as a member of an ambulance crew and, in the event that the other members of the crew are classified as Emergency Medical Technician - Basic or Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate, is responsible for the medical care administered to the patient.  Employee administers emergency cardiac care as well as other advanced emergency medical treatments such as administering medications, and performing pulmonary ventilation.  Employee must exercise tact, courtesy and firmness in dealing with the general public.  Employee is responsible for performing in accordance with established emergency medical procedures and techniques, but must exercise considerable independent judgment in identifying a victim's condition and in applying life-sustaining treatment.  Employee is exposed to the normal hazards of emergency rescue work, including risk of exposure to infectious diseases.  Reports to the EMS Shift Supervisor.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  Completion of high school supplemented by basic emergency medical technician and paramedic training.  Experience as an emergency medical technician. 

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:  Certification by the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic or currently enrolled in a Paramedic program.  Possession of a valid driver's license.  Preference will be given to those applicants with Associate Degree or higher in a related field.

LANDFILL UTILITY WORKER

PART-TIME/TEMPORARY

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL & ENGINEERING SERVICES - LANDFILL

 

HIRING RATE:  $7.75/HOUR

HOURS:           30 hours per week (Hours may vary by season.)

LOCATION:      Rockingham County Landfill , Madison , NC

CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS:  September 10th, 2010

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:   Work includes collection of paper, blowing plastic, trash and other articles; assistance with scrap tire and scrap metal collection programs labor; general policing of areas around shop; assistance with some general and routine simple machine maintenance; assistance with the recycling and convenience drop off areas; assistance with watering the dirt access roads; mowing grass and weed eating; and assistance with odd jobs not delegated to higher paid staff on site.  Reports to Landfill Supervisor or designated representative.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Ability to perform assigned duties.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Work requires mature individual who is capable of working independently with minimal supervision.  Person must be physically capable of outside work, lifting heavy materials and operating small power tools and other equipment.

MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT

LOCATION:          Rockingham County Governmental Center, Wentworth , NC

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  This position will provide services in the Department’s dental and medical clinics.  The position will provide back-up chair side assistance to dentists and ensure instruments are ready for use including sterilization and packaging.  Position will escort patients to their destination and prepare rooms for next patient.  Duties will also include ensuring that all equipment is maintained and operational, keeping an inventory of needed supplies, preliminary work-up of medical patients (height, weight, temperatures, brief medical history, etc.), and maintenance of necessary records.  Flexibility in meeting the agency’s workload requirements will be necessary.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Graduation from high school and successful completion of a one-year formal training course in medical office assisting at a community college or technical institute; or graduation from high school and a combination of one year of clerical and health/dental related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

LOCATION:          Rockingham County Governmental Center, Wentworth , NC

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  This is advanced level professional work serving as the Health Promotion Coordinator for the Department of Public Health.  The position is responsible for developing and implementing the local community action plan for the North Carolina Statewide Health Promotion Program.  Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based interventions toward the promotion of physical activity, healthy eating, tobacco use prevention/cessation, and convening community partners.  This position will work two days per week at the Student Health Centers located at the county’s four high schools.  Responsibilities will be directed toward addressing issues that teenagers face related to making wise life choices to reduce the dependency on TANF program funds for out-of-wedlock births.  The ability to write and speak effectively with all age groups involving sensitive issues is a must.  This position requires computer and efficient multi-tasking skills.  Grant writing skills are strongly desired.  Work will be coordinated with the Rockingham County Healthy Carolinians Partnership and supervised by the Health Education Program Manager.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in health education and one year of experience in public health education or a related field; graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Preference will be given to those applicants with experience working with teens and community collaboration effects.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  This position is funded by a Smart Start grant through the Rockingham County Partnership for Children.  This employee will coordinate healthcare services for children birth to 5 years of age and will work in conjunction with the Child Service Coordinators (CSC) and the Maternity Care Coordinator (MCC) staff.  The employee will visit the approximate 80 licensed child-care centers and homes in the county on a periodic bases monitoring and evaluating healthcare needs, performing screenings, monitoring immunizations, providing education for staff, parents, and children.  The nurse will act as consultant to the staff of the child-care center on matters of concern regarding healthcare, developmental delays, infection control, and communicable disease.  The nurse will assist parents in making appointments and in choosing a primary care provider if indicated and will make appropriate referrals.  Requires advanced communication and teaching skills and the ability to make independent judgments. 

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience including one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by N.C. Board of Nursing.
