Fresh, Locally Grown Produce The site of
the Rockingham County Farmers’
Market, the former stables at
Chinqua Penn Estate, combines the County’s unique history and beautiful rolling
hillsides. At our market, vendors from a nine-county area offer the finest in home-grown, natural produce, raised on their farms and delivered fresh to the market in season.
· Perennial favorites such as strawberries,
blueberries, apples and melons; · Summer staples such as tomatoes, potatoes, sweet
corn, and runner beans; · Fresh eggs; · Specialty produce including spring mix, shiitake mushrooms and Swiss chard, and; · A variety of fresh herbs including more than 15 types of garlic as well as related items such as garlic braids. |
Arts and Crafts
In addition to fresh seasonal produce,
the market showcases the rich local tradition of fine craftsmanship in
Rockingham County. Local craftsmen offer
their art,
pottery, and photography
for sale at the market,
as well as painters,
woodworkers, fabric producers, and glass artists. These vendors are
located in the log buildings attached to the stable area.

Chinqua-Penn
Plantation is located near US Hwy 29 Business and 158, just west of Reidsville,
North Carolina.
From
Greensboro, NC/Charlotte, NC
Take 29 BYP north from I-85/40 to the third Reidsville ext (Highway 14). Turn
left at the ramp and travel north on Hwy 14 for 3.5 miles to Salem Church Rd.
Turn left and travel 2 miles to stop sign. Turn right on Wentworth St and the
market is immediately on your right.
From
Winston-Salem/Western North Carolina
Take US 158E to Reidsville. As soon
as you arrive in Reidsville, follow US 29 Business North. Take the Highway 87
exit and turn left. Travel about l/2 mile, then turn right onto Parkland Rd. Go
to stop sign, turn right on Wentworth St and the market is on your left.
From
Danville, VA
Take US 29 BYP south to the Highway 14 exit. Go north on Highway 14 for 3.5
miles to Salem Church Road. Turn left and travel 2 miles to stop sign. Turn
right on Wentworth St and the market is immediately on your right.
From
Burlington
Take NC 87 north from Burlington to US 29 BYP in Reidsville. Go north on US 29
BYP to next exit- Hwy 14. Turn left at the end of ramp and travel north on Hwy
14 for 3.5 miles to Salem Church Rd. Turn left and travel 2 miles to stop sign.
Turn right on Wentworth St and the market is immediately on your right.
From
Eden, NC/Martinsville, VA
Take Hwy 14 south out of Eden. Turn right on to Salem Church Rd as you approach
Reidsville. Travel 2 miles to stop sign. Turn right on Wentworth St and the
market is immediately on your right.
From
U.S. Highway 220/Madison, NC
Take NC Hwy 704 east to Wentworth. Road will become NC Hwy 87/65. Approximately
two miles past Wentworth, turn left onto Wentworth St. Travel 2 miles and the
estate is on your left.
From
Durham/Raleigh
Take I-40 west to Greensboro. Exit at Lee St (first Greensboro exit) and follow
signs to US 29 North. Follow above directions from Greensboro.
The
market will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays
