In Service Training
Paramedics, EMT's and medical responders must complete monthly training sessions to maintain their certification.

These sessions cover topics ranging from airway management, cardiovascular emergencies and trauma management.

Below you'll see a variety of in service sessions.

June 2007 - Disaster Drill

On June 16, 2007, Rockingham County hosted a hands-on disaster drill.

The scenario involved a school bus overturned onto a car carrying an unknown radioactive material.  The radiation danger was unknown to all responders prior to their arrival on the scene.

Participants included NC Emergency Management, Rockingham County Emergency Management, Rockingham County EMS, Wentworth Fire Department, Reidsville Rescue, Eden Rescue, Rockingham County Public Health, Rockingham County 911 Center, Rockingham County Sheriff's Department, Annie Pen and Morehead Hospitals

A debriefing and critique were held following the drill.  Many thanks to Debbie Hatfield, Rockingham County Emergency Management Coordinator, for Planning organizing and running the drill.

March 2006:  Surgical Cricothyrotomys

This procedure allows us to make an incision in a patient's throat so an airway can be inserted.
It is only done when no other means of airway control can be established and only as a last resort.
Since the pig tracheas are the closest anatomically to a human, those are used in the training process.
