Purpose

The Rockingham County Mental Health Center provides a program of services directed at the improvement of overall mental health in Rockingham County.  In order to fulfill this purpose, the Mental Health Center functions in two broad areas of mental health service:

  • promotion of sound growth and development as it relates to mental health, which includes community education and consultation as well as providing training for those in related fields, and

  • treatment and rehabilitation for those individuals whose lives have been disrupted as a result of emotional impairment or disorder.

ORGANIZATION AND AUTHORITY

The Mental Health Center operates as a component of the Rockingham County Area Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities/Substance Abuse Services which is a joint endeavor of state and local government. 

The Mental Health Center is governed by an Area Board of Directors which is composed of representatives from Rockingham County.
